On aggressive chemical duty the joint is often the only place where the medium meets something other than stainless steel. A bare rubber sphere, however good the compound, gives the chemical a surface it can attack, and the leak usually shows at the flange. A PTFE liner behind a stainless steel 316 flange keeps the contact surface inert and corrosion resistant end to end.

This DN150 (6 inch) unit is built that way: PTFE liner through the bore, SS316 flange drilled to DIN, ANSI or JIS, and a rubber body that still provides 12mm extension, 20mm compression, 14mm lateral travel and ±7.5° deflection. The build length is set on the approval drawing, since both the liner and the stainless flange add to it.

Q1: Why specify SS316 flange instead of standard carbon steel?

A1: The flange face is wetted, and on corrosive duty it is usually the first part to go. Stainless steel 316 resists chlorides and washing chemicals far better than painted carbon steel, so the whole wetted path stays consistent.

Q2: Can the lined joint be flushed and cleaned in place?

A2: The PTFE liner gives a non-stick, low build-up surface that flushes clean more easily than bare rubber. Tell us the cleaning agent and temperature and we confirm the compound behind the liner.

Q3: Do I get the same face-to-face length as a bare rubber joint?

A3: Not necessarily. Both the liner and the stainless flange change the overall build, so the length is fixed on the approval drawing against the pipe gap you actually have.

Q4: Which documents come with the shipment?

A4: Mill certificate for the flange material, hydrostatic test record at 1.5 times the working pressure, dimensional report and packing list. Further third-party inspection by TUV, SGS or BV can be arranged.
