Product Description:

The double sphere rubber expansion joint is a twin bellows flexible connector bolted between two flanges in a pipeline, most often at the pump discharge, on a chiller header or on a riser where the pipe has to be isolated from vibration and thermal movement. Two rubber spheres share the movement, so each convolution carries only half of the total displacement, which keeps the stress in the elastomer low and gives a long flex life on continuously cycling lines.

The standard body is EPDM with a multi-layer nylon cord carcass and steel wire pressurized rings, fitted with hot dip galvanized carbon steel flanges drilled to DIN PN16. For oil, acid or solvent service the same body is available in NBR, CR or FKM, and flanges can be supplied in stainless steel or ductile iron. Every unit is hydro-tested before packing and can be supplied with a dimensional drawing for approval before production.

The joint absorbs axial extension and compression, lateral offset and angular deflection in one short fitting, and it cuts the transmission of pump vibration and noise into the pipework. Standard sizes run from DN50 to DN600 with intermediate sizes and special face-to-face lengths produced on our own moulds from DN15 up to DN4000.

Q1: Which sizes and pressures are available?

A1: The standard range is DN50 to DN600 with face-to-face lengths from 105 mm to 260 mm, working pressure PN10 to PN16. PN6 to PN40, sizes from DN15 to DN4000 and special lengths are produced with our own moulds.

Q2: Which rubber should I choose for my media?

A2: EPDM for water, chilled water, hot water and steam condensate; NBR for oil and fuel; CR for outdoor and weathering; FKM for acid, solvent and high temperature service. Tell us the media and temperature and we will confirm the compound.

Q3: What flange standard do you supply?

A3: DIN, ANSI, JIS, BS and EN drilling are all available, in carbon steel galvanized, stainless steel or ductile iron. Bolts and nuts can be quoted together with the joint.
